Mullein leaves soaking in 100 proof vodka to create a tincture for cough syrup. The herbal books state that this is natures Mucinex and will clear out a persons lungs.
They say that the Mullein leaves when dried - one can smoke them to reduce their cough, you can also blow the smoke into another's ear to relieve an ear ache.
